Overview

Phase 1: Kathmandu or Pokhara to Jomsom (1 and a half hours)

Our representative staff will pick you up from the hotel and transfer you to the airport. We can then start your tour to Upper Mustang. The helicopter flight first takes you to Jomsom from Kathmandu or Pokhara which takes about 1 and a half hours.

At Jomsom, we stop for about 30 minutes for refueling procedure. Meanwhile, we can observe the breathtaking mountain panorama and atmosphere of the windy town of Jomsom.

Phase 2: Jomsom to Lo Manthang (25 minutes)

From Jomsom, we will board the helicopter flight along with a police personnel as per the government rule. We arrive at Lo Manthang after a ride of about 25 mins. The Upper Mustang region is a barren and arid landscapes that resembles a desert. The windy valley is geographically close to the Tibetan plateau.

The land eroded landscape with rolling hills is breathtaking. The Mustang region is highly influenced by the Tibetan life style and language. The capital Lo Manthang, literally means as the “ plains of aspiration ” in Tibetan language.

Phase 3: Lo Manthang to Jomsom (15 minutes)

We return back to Jomsom for 15 minutes where we stopped briefly for refueling purposes. The refueling takes about 15 minutes. We can observe the beautiful mountain vista for one last time.

Phase 4: Jomsom to Kathmandu or Pokhara (1 and a half hours)

We take off from Jomsom airport and then land on Kathmandu or Pokhara after almost an hour as our Upper Mustang Helicopter ride in Nepal comes to an end.

  • Only early morning helicopter flights are available from Kathmandu or Pokhara to Jomsom. The strong afternoon winds make it difficult for the helicopter to land.
